MARINE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CLIMATE CHANGE RESPONSE

At the 2022 Vietnam Sustainable Marine Economy Development Forum, Tran Tuan Anh, Head of the Central Economic Committee, emphasized the need to develop in a synchronized manner, progressively establishing economic zones, industrial zones, and coastal eco-urban areas. It's crucial to develop coastal areas based on natural advantages while maintaining a balance between conservation and development. This includes environmental protection, sustainable conservation and development, fostering a maritime culture, and ensuring national defense and security.The necessary efforts to build a sustainable marine economy, an eco-friendly economy in Vietnam include:

✅ Establishing a stable policy and legal environment for sustainable marine economy, focusing on efficient resource utilization, environmental protection, and fostering sustainable development for emerging marine economic sectors.

✅ Implementing strategies, plans, and development schemes related to maritime and island areas, particularly emphasizing the development of the marine economy.

✅ Investing in the infrastructure that connects economic zones along the coast, stimulating development.

✅ Encouraging investments in research, technology development, technology transfer, and capacity enhancement.

✅ Executing pilot projects to harness all renewable energy sources from the sea, maximizing the potential of marine renewable energy in Vietnam.

✅ Strengthening collaboration in managing, monitoring, and addressing environmental pollution in coastal areas.

✅ Actively participating in global initiatives and actions to tackle ocean plastic pollution, aligning with the United Nations Environment Council's resolution, and seizing opportunities from the global trend of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
